Basic parts of an electronic cigarette kit

Electronic cigarettes first came in the market in 2007 and is the best option for those who want to quit tobacco smoking. The best thing about these is that these are not harmful like the regular cigarettes. These do not release smoke. These release nicotine vapors that can be inhaled and the give the smoking sensation to the smoker. Those who do not like nicotine can also buy e smokes that emit non-nicotine vapors.

Unlike the tobacco cigarettes that contain more than 3,000 chemicals, these cigarettes do not have any harmful chemicals. The device is operated by a battery and is reusable. It can be used over many times with refillable and replaceable cartridges. However, disposable electronic cigarettes are also available.

Most of the working of the electronic cigarette is done automatically. When the smoker sucks it, the heating element gets activated by the sensor which in turn vaporizes the liquid. The liquid is held by the mouthpiece. Today, many flavors like chocolate, cherry etc are available for the liquid solution. The smoker can choose whatever flavor he likes.
The basic components of the electronic cigarette starter kit are:

1. Mouthpiece – The cartridge is fixed at the end of the cigarette. It holds an absorbent material drenched in the solution. The smoker can get the liquid solution having different levels of nicotine. Drip tips – an alternative to the cartridges are also available. These do not have the absorbent material.

2. Battery – The battery is a lithium ion battery that can be charged at any time. This battery is used to power the heating element. The battery is the largest part of the electronic cigarette kit. To tell that the device is activated, the best electronic cigarettes also have a LED at their end.

3. Atomizer – The heating element is termed as the atomizer. It vaporizes the liquid by heating it up.

Usage of an electronic cigarette

Though theoretically, electronic cigarettes are a great option for the traditional cigarettes, not enough research has been done on the long term effects of these cigarettes. Though most of these cigarettes contain nicotine solutions but non nicotine solutions can also be used in these. There is no combustion in these cigarettes and they give the same sensation to the smoker as that given by a tobacco cigarette.

Most of these are long-shaped tubes but can be customized to any shape. However, most of these are reusable and come with refillable cartridges. Some disposable electronic cigarette brands are also available.

There are 3 basic parts of any electronic cigarette kit-

1. A power source- it can be a battery or a wire connected to a USB port.
2. A heating element called as the electronic cigarette atomizer.
3. A cartridge containing the e-cigarette liquid storage material. Some cigarettes may have both, the cartridge and the atomizer integrated into one piece called as the cartomizer.

The liquid is held by the cartridge. Whenever the cartridge is inserted into the electronic cigarette case, the cartridge liquid makes contact with the atomizer’s bridge. It absorbs the liquid into the atomizer’s steel mesh reservoir. The liquid resides there till the user puffs on the cigarette.

When the user puffs on the electronic cigarette, the liquid is pulled from the atomizer to the ceramic atomizer pot. The atomizer pot contains an aromatic Polyimide wick, which absorbs the liquid. Simultaneously, the device heats up the coil around the wick. The heat produced converts the liquid in the wick to vapors. This vapor is puffed by the user.

There is also a LED at the end of the cigarette that indicates when the vaporizer is in use. Both, the atomizer and the LED are controlled by a microprocessor. Whenever the cigarette is used, a sensor detects use and activates the microprocessor.

Working of E-Cigarettes

Battery operated nicotine inhalers or more commonly called as the E-cigs or vaporizer cigarettes are a huge rage today. In fact, they are quickly getting social acceptance. Puffing e-cigs is called vaping and it is also called as ‘guilt free smoking’. They are the stylized version of conventional cigarettes and are ash and smoke free. In fact, their nicotine levels are also very low as compared to the traditional cigarettes and so, are said to be a great aid for those who want to quit smoking.

The working process of all the Electronic Cigarettes With Liquid is almost the same. All these have a sensor that activates a heating element whenever the user puffs on the cigarette. Some have a button that needs to be pressed whenever it has to be used. This heating element, also called as the Electronic Cigarette Atomizer vaporizes the liquid contained in the cartridge of the cigarette. The user can choose any flavored liquid solution that he likes for his cigarette.

The most desired flavor is that of nicotine without smoke. This liquid has nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. Both propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are common food additives. There is a LED also at the end of the cigarette that lights up whenever the smoker puffs on the cigarette. It is used to indicate that the cigarette has been activated.

Electronic cigarette myths busted

Vaping has become a huge trend nowadays but not much research has been done on its side-effects. Very little is known about its long term effects. But most of the anti-smokers agree to the fact that it is way much better than tobacco smoking. However, there still are some misconceptions associated with these cigarettes. Here are some of the myths busted :

1.    The nicotine that the electronic cigarettes contain is harmful.

Fact: Reports indicate that nicotine cannot instigate cancer of any type and also doesn’t have mutagenic properties. It also do not have any adverse long term effects. So, it is wrong to think that these electronic cigarettes are harmful for health.

2.    The electronic cigarette brands promote smoking among the kids.

Fact: It is compulsory for the brands to validate the buyer’s age before doing any online or offline sale. In fact, the retailers are encouraged to do proper customer identification before doing any kind of sale. And besides, these are not that cheap that a kid can buy them at his expense. Some anti-electronic cigarette groups also argue that the varied flavors and colors offered are to attract the children. This is a totally baseless notion as all the adult brands of any type do so and this can’t be called promoting these amongst the children. These are only meant for smokers of legal age.

3.    These contain anti-freeze.

Fact: The electronic cigarettes with liquid contains propylene glycol and not diethylene glycol, commonly called as the anti-freeze. Propylene glycol has been declared safe for human consumption by the FDA. So, it’s wrong to say that the these contain anti-freeze.

4.    These are more addictive than tobacco cigarettes.

Fact: Reports show that the nicotine level delivered by the electronic cigarettes is much lower than that delivered by the tobacco smoke. The nicotine consumption level of every person is different. Once it is reached, the person’s craving stops and he no longer lusts for it. These cigarettes supply nicotine only in a limited amount and as soon as the person’s craving is satisfied, he can stop consuming more. So, it is completely wrong to say that these promote smoking in any way.

Using an Electronic Cigarette

Half the world population today is addicted to smoking. The number of deaths being caused by smoking is very large. In such a scenario, electronic cigarettes have presented themselves as a better and safer alternative to tobacco products. Let’s have a look at their working.

Functionality

Some of the electronic cigarettes have a switch attached to activate it. Only the liquid in the ceramic pot is vaporized by the atomizer. The liquid is drawn into the pot when the user sucks on the electronic cigarette. An electronic cigarette starter kit contains many cartridges.

There is also a LED at the end of the cigarette that indicates when the vaporizer is in use. Both, the atomizer and the LED are controlled by a microprocessor. Whenever the cigarette is used, a sensor detects use and activates the microprocessor.
